Transfer, Print, Paint and Layer

Led by Karen Carter.

On day one we will produce a number of images on translucent papers using acrylic gel transfer, eco-solvent transfer, stenciling and a variety of simple printing techniques. On day 2 these will be combined with mixed-media backgrounds, embellishments and text to make either a book of reference samples or a finished piece that can be sewn into or further worked on with paint and ink. There will be lots of demonstrations and the emphasis will be on experimenting, layering and combining methods.

Using a limited ‘winter’ colour palette and stark winter landscapes as our subject matter we will explore the qualities and contrasts of ink, charcoal and resists both individually and in combination with each other.

We will work through a series of sketches incorporating mark-making, rich velvety tonal work and a bit of splashing and spattering!

Portrait Drawing (Beginners)
