Our popular New Year’s Eve event returns to ring in 2018! Join ceilidh and barn dance band Cut a Shine for foot stomping, rip-roaring, thigh-slapping traditional music and a night of all types of barn dancing. A fun, lively and thrilling way to celebrate this New Year's Eve!

John Spiers with Jackie Oates

John Spiers has made a name for himself as one of the leading melodeon players of his generation. A key part of the multi award winning Bellowhead and also a member of Eliza Carthy’s band for five years.

Jackie Oates is synonymous with the reinvigoration of English folk. Her mellifluous voice, plaintive fiddle and tantalizing approach to traditional songs gained her several BBC Folk Awards.

WHY? An evening of enthralling music and humorous banter

Honey and the Bear

The British folk and roots inspired duo combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with powerful guitar riffs, foot stomping rhythms and catchy melodies.

Between them, Jon Hart and Lucy Sampson play guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, banjo and percussion. They have played various UK folk festivals and toured Germany.

WHY? The amalgamation of both their unique musical styles makes for a dynamic and ever-changing live performance

Spring Ceilidh

You’ll be in safe hands with the expert calling and playing from our band Nedron’s Jig.

The band formed specially for Norden Farm's Ceilidhs and between them play Squeezebox, Fiddle, Mandola and Bass. The four musicians consist of two from the folk super-group Feast of Fiddles and two from the band Phungus.

Caller Brian Jones will be on hand to guide you through all the dances. Brian has been involved in Folk Dance for many years, he calls not only the traditional favourites, but also his own original routines. His dances are used by dance callers right across the British Isles!

Dances include the likes of Nottingham Swing, Cumberland Square 8, Virginia Reel, Bridge at Athlone, Gay Gorden’s, Dashing White Sgt and The Willow Tree. Expect familiar tunes including Atholl Highlanders, Rogue’s March and Dashing White Sergeant.

WHY? A social evening of dance in our atmospheric 18th century Long Barn - no experience necessary!

BBC award-winning duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin are now Edgelarks.

They are firmly established on the roots and acoustic scene. The duo blend British traditional and original songs with Indian classical slide guitar, stomping beatbox, harmonica and fiddle to blistering effect. Their new album takes the idea that thresholds, despite often being places of marginalisation, are also places of change – and therefore places of hope.
