Summer Recital Series – St John’s Ensemble with Elisabeth Cullen (soprano)

Elisabeth Cullen (soprano)

Ron Colyer (violin), Susan Black (viola), Paul Cox (cello),
Caroline Owen (clarinet), Nigel Wilkinson (piano)

Schubert Duo in A for violin and piano, D.574
Mozart Trio for clarinet, viola and piano in E flat, K.498 (Kegelstatt)
Schubert 4 Songs from Schwanengesang
Mozart Piano Quartet in G minor,K.478

In this delightful Viennese programme, two of Mozart’s greatest chamber works rub shoulders with Schubert’s eloquent Duo and a selection of his last songs.

Mozart is thought to have written his Kegelstatt Trio whilst playing a game of skittles, while his G minor Quartet has an altogether darker and more intense quality.
