Using white gouache and watercolour. Experiment with white gouache on black paper. You may like to add in add in some colour and metallic or interference colours for a dramatic or decorative effect. Subjects; moths, fish, undersea creatures or imagine!

Smooth black paper e.g. Daler Rowney Raven and/or black watercolour paper Van Gogh make one that is 300gsm with a rather pronounced grain. This weight would be needed if you wish to work with very wet washes. For your initial experiments the Raven paper would be OK
Most expensive is Stonehenge Aquablack paper, available with cold pressed or hot pressed surface

Your usual watercolours
If you have any: metallic watercolour or interference colour, or bring interference medium to use with your usual watercolours
